It's crunch time! 16 Days Left!

I can't believe that graduation is like, two and half weeks away. I got my book printed and I still feel like I have a ton of stuff to do! Trying to sell a condo while trying to graduate is no picnic either, living in essentially a show home is not fun! I'm almost done with my website! Yay! I will have it up and running by friday and I'll post a link on here so it's easy to find.

In other news! My little man is 18 months old already! I can't believe how time flies! He got his first "big boy" hair cut over Thanksgiving Break. Grandma cried enough for the both of us! I'll post some photos that my parents are using for Christmas Cards this year. So actually some of you might get one in the mail!

Well, back to work! I have to get my mail pieces done and get everything signed off so I can graduate!

New gear to play with and graduation.

I finally upgraded from my 15" PowerBook G4 (that mac doesn't even make anymore) to a brand new 24" Imac! It's so much easier to get work done, edit my photos, and actually have them look the same when I transfer them to the computers at school when I print them! It's such a relief and stress reducer to have it. Next step is to upgrade my camera, my poor Nikon D70 just doesn't cut it any more (Nikon doesn't make THAT model any more either)! So I'm looking at the new NIkon D700, I just don't know if I have the money to buy it though... maybe my parents can get it as an early graduation present for me... hopefully.

Speaking of graduation! I have exactly 4 months until the big day and I'm starting to freak out. I will be returning to the Kansas City area, primarily in Lee's Summit so I need to start looking for a job out there, hopefully it won't be too bad considering there are about 30ish photographers in just the Lee's Summit area.

Here's to hoping I can make it through the next 4 months without freaking out too much!

A break from the heat...

finally gave all of us here in Denver a relief. I got out to shoot tonight out at Red Rocks with the lovely Becka. She was a doll to photograph and all the people running up and down the seats thought so as well! The anti-rain dance we did when we first got there worked too! I had no issue with shooting in the rain, but apparently Becka's hair poofs out like a koosh-ball when it gets wet.

Hopefully her boyfriend, Ryan, likes them since they are for him.  She says he used to be a pro soccer player so maybe I can get him in front of the lens soon.

Hopefully the weather remains nice to us!

Thank you Business of Photography class...

... or at least Tom Moore who taught it yesterday. I actually learned something valuable, pricing for prints and the such. Which couldn't have come at a better time because this morning I received and email from a Mrs. Brittany S. asking if I would do her maternity photos. So now that I have an actual pricing list my business is that much closer to getting up off the ground! Good times!

The new and improved!

So I decided to take my old blog and give it a face lift. New colors, new layout, new photo, new everything. That and my dear friend Stacey Weisser (under my favorite blog list!)  just sent me the link to hers and reminded me that I even had a blogspot! So thanks Stacey!

So for those of you who just stumbled on my little slice of internet, I'm Sarah Bockting! I was born and raised in Lee's Summit, MO since 1986 until September of 2005 where I packed up everything I owned (pretty much) and moved to Denver, CO to attend the Art Institute of Colorado in the photography department. I took a 9 month hiatus starting January of 2007 to have my son Hunter Charles Bockting mid May. I then returned to school at AIC October of the same year and I am now set to graduate December 19, 2008!

I am so excited and nervous all at the same time! As of right now the plan after graduation is to move back to Lee's Summit to assist with a local photographer but will be able to return to Denver if needed for any reason.

I am such a people person, I get along with about 97% percent of the people that I meet, which is probably why consumer portraiture is my concentration.
I photograph maternity, babies, children, teenagers, senior portraits, engagements, family portraits, and will do the occasional wedding.

On the side I enjoy just going out in the mountains and shooting landscapes, I also enjoy doing work for the Kansas Cit Historical Society, mainly at Union Station.
I hope you all enjoy my blog and return later to keep up with all the new stuff going on!
